Medication Competency and Audits

Medication Training


Medication training is available through mandatory e-learning and an in-person medication administration session delivered by the Learning & Development team.

Managers can request an in-person session where additional support, refresher training or service-specific guidance is required.

Competency Process


When a new member of staff joins us, they must complete a minimum of 3 observations before administering unsupervised and the management staff must decide whether they are competent or not.

Competency lasts for a period of one year, at which point, they must be observed again, using the annual medication competency form below.

In the event that a member of staff is involved in an incident, a member of management will need to go through the Post-Incident form below and using that, make a decision on next steps.
