Pride Month
6th June 2024
June is Pride Month, a significant time dedicated to celebrating love, identity, and the continuous struggle for equality within the LGBTQ+ community. This month serves as a reminder of the progress made and the work still needed to ensure everyone can live authentically and without discrimination.
Over the years, Pride Month has evolved into a global celebration, marked by parades, festivals, and various events aimed at promoting equality and acceptance.
Despite the progress, many LGBTQ+ individuals still face significant challenges. According to a 2021 report from the Human Rights Campaign, nearly 1 in 5 LGBTQ+ Individuals have experienced discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Pride Month is not just a celebration; it is also a call to action. It encourages everyone to support the LGBTQ+ community by advocating for equal rights and challenging discriminatory practices. It’s a time to reflect on the courage of those who have fought for LGBTQ+ rights and to recognize that the journey towards equality is ongoing.
