Following on from a very good year of providing excellent support to a fantastic group of people we are please to receive our first CQC inspection report.
The detail of which should give an idea of what we do and how we aim to provide the best possible support that people deserve.
We now have a benchmark and our aim for Outstanding is now firmly underway.
Keep watching for further developments we have a lot of plans to develop our focus and promote positive outcomes for all the people we support.
PCAS Kent are a provider of bespoke support packages for people with learning differences, autism and mental health needs.
Based in Gravesend, we offer outreach, supported and independent living services around Kent. We work in partnership with providers of social housing to offer only the highest quality of accommodation as we recognise that the environment in which people live, can have an impact on their overall wellbeing.
The people we support are at the heart of everything we do – from choosing the right accommodation through to recruiting the right staff to meet their needs.
All support packages are designed purely for the person receiving the services.
At PCAS Kent, we focus on ability not disability and strive to maintain and improve independence through our person-centred approach to support working.
Keeping people safe is a top priority but we will always support people in positive risk taking in order to achieve goals and personal growth.
At PCAS, we pride ourselves on our ability to be responsive and adaptable to change as we understand that people’s needs and preferences will vary.
‘Your Life, Your Choice, Your Way’
We provide support for people living with family or in their own homes. This may include accessing public transport and the local community, leisure and fun activities or support to attend appointments.
We work with social landlords to offer spacious shared houses of the highest quality, where people can live in a group setting with support from staff. Support can be provided on a 1:1 or shared basis depending on need.
We work with social landlords to offer self-contained flats of the highest quality for those who have support needs but wish to live on their own or with a partner. Support is provided on a 1:1 basis.
Working closely with Mental Health Professionals, we provide support for people with long term mental health conditions who as a result, have social care support needs to maintain a level of independence. We understand that support should be flexible to allow for a fluctuation of needs and that the right home environment is an essential part of wellbeing.
We support people on the autistic spectrum to live as independently as possible, working towards identified goals and outcomes. This can be in shared housing, self-contained accommodation or for an individual living in their own home. We are aware of certain factors that may have an impact – the environment, sensory issues, communication, but recognise that no two people are the same and support is planned accordingly.
We provide person-centred support for people with mild to severe learning differences. Promoting ability rather than disability, we seek to build support packages that focus on what an individual can do and move on from there. We always strive to achieve greater independence for the people we support in order to give them maximum control and choice over what happens in their lives.
